Food Not Lawns

From Lawns to Edible Landscaping

September                                                    2017

It’s been eleven years since Heather Jo Flores published her book Food Not Lawns: How to Turn Your Yard into a Garden and Your Neighborhood into a Community. Food Not Lawns is an urban permaculture handbook that shows you how to tackle one of America’s major environmental issues, Lawns.

A lot has been writer about the issue of lawns including an essay by Food writer Michael Pollan, Why Mow?  If lawns are such an environmental disaster what should you do if you find yourself with a patch of turf to manage? Read the book, check out the stories and links below then Smoke your lawn and eat your yard.

Please consider purchasing your copy of Food Not Lawns through Sustainability Action’s Chelsea Green Book Store portal. Looks like Food Not Lawns is on sale.
