 LET THE RE-LOCALIZATION BEGIN!

A common feature of ongoing Local Transitition initiatives are Reskilling Workshops where a wide variety of talented community people offer their neighbors informal training in various practical skills to make energy descent and relocalization efforts easier.

Some of the most popular kinds of reskilling workshops include: canning and food preservation, domestic energy efficiency and retrofits, compost making and gardening, straw-bale building, knitting, weaving, home repair, making biodiesel fuel, converting vehicles to run on grease and waste cooking oil, bicycle maintenance, group singing, solar panel installation, and permaculture design, as well as such useful groups skills as nonviolent communication, conflict resolution, running successful meetings, shared leadership and democratic group process, and time and project management.
