This workshop is billed as a fun and informative morning of Plein Air painting with artist Louis Copt. The focus of the workshop will be on image selection, composition, atmospheric perspective, color mixing, temperature and value.  It will start with a quick demonstrations in oil and watercolor, and all levels of artists are welcome. RSVP and pre-payment is required by contacting <grasslandheritage@gmail.com> or (785) 840-8104.

Louis Copt has been painting full-time since 1984. He was named “Governor’s Artist” by the Kansas Arts Commission in 2011, currently teaches at the Lawrence Arts Center, and previously at the University of Kansas. The workshop will be outside in the prairie, so please dress accordingly. Wear neutral colors, because bright colors can reflect on your canvas and interfere with your color choices. Be sure to bring water and sunscreen.  A brimmed hat is a good idea.

After the workshop, stay for a free lunch and other Prairie Discovery Day activities at Snyder Prairie, 158th St and U Rd., Mayetta, KS. (20 min. north of Topeka)
